SWEDISH MASSAGE
Definition
of Massage:
‘rubbing, kneading etc of muscles and joints of the body with the hands
to stimulate their action, cure strains etc, to treat’

Massage is as old as man himself and has evolved through the need to relieve soreness in the body.  We instinctively rub a part of the body if it is knocked.  This is a subconscious action that soothes.  Touch has played a central role as an instrument of healing.

Massage is a treatment to ease the stresses and strains of everyday life.  It can ease tension, soothe aching muscles, improve blood and lymph flow and give a feeling of well being.

The Holistic Approach  …..
The word holistic means – treating the whole person, not just the presenting condition but also all conditions that may not appear, looking at everything about the person, their job, their home life, diet, exercise regime, sleep patterns etc.

Complementary or natural therapies aim to keep people in a balanced state, helping to prevent the onset of disease or illness.  General Practitioners are overworked and do not have the time to spend giving preventative advice, however, more and more are now referring complementary therapies to their patients.

  JAN REID
Jan Reid is a Holistic Practitioner who specialises in Healing.  She was introduced to this treatment in 1988, when, having been deaf since a child, was given ‘hands-on’ healing every day for a month following the umpteenth operation on her ears, which resulted in her discarding the hearing-aids she had worn for many years!

Jan joined the National Federation of Spiritual Healers and became a full Healer herself and also attuned to Reiki to become a Practitioner, Master & Teacher.

Through working with her clients with healing she has a strong belief that ‘emotion’ is the root cause of dis-ease in the body and has found success in using her skill of Spiritual Counselling to help them rid their body of blockages which cause depression, unhappiness and exhaustion etc.

She studied Anatomy and Physiology and qualified with ITEC in Swedish Massage and went on to add Indian Head Massage to her repertoire.

Insured and a member of the International Guild of Professional Practitioners (IGPP), a full member of the  National Federation of Spiritual (NFSH) and The Reiki Association
