A Naturopathic Approach to Health

by Nicola Summers

If you are one of the thousands suffering from seemingly random symptoms of poor health and have tried many remedies that just don’t work, this could be because you are treating the symptoms and not the cause.

An example of this and a common complaint I see regularly at my practice is suffered by many women at menopause - hot flushes.

A healthy body will naturally produce waste products which are removed via the liver and colon. If these routes become overwhelmed, often in women the reproductive area is used and then, during menstruation, toxins are released, thus cleaning the body. After menopause, this exit route is no longer available, so the body tries to flush toxins through the skin in perspiration.

Naturopathic treatment for hot flushes would involve strengthening the liver and colon, so they are able to cope with toxins and the need to flush through the skin is removed.

This is just one example I frequently see, but many other common ailments like arthritis, IBS, eczema, PMT, migraines can also be helped by using a naturopathic approach to health.

As a naturopath and a nutritionist, I can explain what your symptoms mean and provide a personalised treatment plan to support the body nutritionally, allow it to cleanse effectively, which in turn allows the body to repair and support health in a natural way.

Hippocrates said ‘let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food’.
